about

In February 2016 I decided I needed to try something new.
Leanne and I bought a ‘92 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and drove down The Coast.
We packed up our apartment and hit the road by May.
We had no idea where we were headed.
One of our best friends let us take over his Seattle apartment for the entire month.
We spent a month exploring Washington.
It’s beautiful there, but we wanted to make it to California 😍
Our car broke down in Portland.
We tried to patch it up with Zap Straps & Duct Tape, didn’t do a very good job and thought, Well, I Guess We Live Here Now.
Our first apartment was 250sq ft.
We had no furniture and slept on an air mattress.
But we made some great friends and fell in love with the place.

America is crazy, what with their Triple-Double-Downs and Two-For-One Quadruple Bypasses...
But the people... the people are amazing ❤️

I played keys in the PDX punk band The MFA.
We made a few awesome music videos and toured down to San Francisco and back.
I hosted a monthly hip-hop night where I played music and Leanne handed out Fresh Baked Cookies. I got to meet and perform with a bunch of my favorite Portland artists!

We even got married in America! (The first time 😂)
A couple weeks later we flew to Cuba and got married again. We spent our Honeymoon with a handful of our best friends.
It was magical and there was no way that anything bad was going to happen to us...

We flew back to Vancouver and were denied entry in America.
All our stuff was stuck in an apartment we coundn’t get to.
We didn’t know what to do.
It’s been more than a year since that happened and we still haven’t gotten most of our things and way more importantly- there are a bunch of amazing people we never got to see again.

What can you do?
Que sera sera...
One day we’ll be allowed to go back and see our friends again.
Until then America will always hold a place in my heart.
